Romeo Y Julieta Reserve Maduro

When I first went into a cigar shop, the only cigar that stood out to me was a Romeo Y Julieta. There’s something about the name that makes you curious. Come to find out, its one of the most selling and most popular brands in the industry. Made sense to me, it’s a great name for a cigar!
Today I will review my first experience with a Romeo Y Julieta and hopefully its something special. The lucky cigar to have that honor is the Romeo Y Julieta Reserve Maduro.
The Romeo Y Julieta Reserve Maduro comes with a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and a blend of Dominican, Nicaraguan and Peruvian filler. My vitola was a Robusto, which is my favorite size.
The only great thing about this cigar is the construction. The burn and ash was perfect, but the draw had little bit of problems through out the smoke. Any time you have to re-light a cigar, check the draw or fix something, its not enjoyable. And this cigar was not enjoyable for me.
The flavors are there, but they are not rich and you don’t get a good taste of them. The cigar leaves a dry after taste on the palate, which is not pleasant for me. You get little bits of coffee and dark nuts, but that’s it.
This cigar was very similar to the Perdomo Reserve Maduro a.k.a. “La Tradicion”, only that the Perdomo is way better.
